Volunteers are a key part of the trust as they are the vital manpower we need to help monitor our freshwater habitats and deliver our habitat projects.

We are always on the lookout for enthusiastic volunteers to help out with a range of activities including:

Surveys and monitoring

Interested in monitoring some of the marvellous freshwater wildlife of the River Thame and its surrounding waterbodies? We are currently looking for volunteers to undertake a range of wildlife surveys. Surveys available for all experience levels, beginners to experts.

Habitat improvement

Get your hands dirty and join us in the river to help create and improve habitat for freshwater wildlife. Work parties do not occur regularly so if you are interested in taking part please register your interest with Hannah (hannah@riverthame.org).

Invasive species control

Non-native invasive plants can take over waterbodies if left to their own devices. Join our work parties in the spring and summer to help remove these invasive plants. To register your interest please email Hannah (hannah@riverthame.org).

River clean ups

We run work parties to remove all the litter and rubbish that finds its way into local streams and the river. You’ll never guess what we find, so join us and come and see for yourselves. To register your interest please email Hannah (hannah@riverthame.org).

Office and events volunteer

Please send us an email (enquiries@riverthame.org) if your interested in helping in the office with tasks such as data entry, event planning, research, ect….

Aylesbury Outfall Safari

The Outfall Safari involves surveying the length of rivers and streams in the Aylesbury area to identify and locate polluting outfalls. This allows the pollution to be reported to Thames Water and the Environment Agency so that it can be tackled.
