Himalayan Balsam is an invasive species which is now found widespread across most of the UK. The Thame catchment has managed to stay relatively free of balsam but more recently it has started to take hold in a few areas particularly Aylesbury, Thame and along the Chalgrove Brook.
In the summer of 2017 and 2018 we undertook some Himalayan Balsam pulling along the Bear Brook in Aylesbury with the help of volunteers. This is an activity which will need repeating each spring/summer until the Balsam has been completely eradicated.
Please see our volunteering pages for more information about upcoming work parties.
