Yellow Fish

In response to a mysterious pollution incident in May 2017 on the Chalgrove Brook that killed at least 20 brown trout Watlington Environment Group began a campaign to raise awareness about pollution from road drains using the Yellow Fish ‘Only Rain Down the Drain’ scheme.

In November 2017 the first of 130 Yellow fish plaques were stuck to kerb stones next to road drains. The aim of the project is to have a plaque or a stenciled Yellow Fish on all the vulnerable road drains in the Town which link to the Brook to raise awareness that everything that enters those drains enters the brook.

The campaign has also included articles in the local paper, a stand at the town’s Christmas Fair and flyers delivered to all properties.
