To increase our understanding of river, its ecosystem and the wider catchment we manage a number of different monitoring and surveying initiatives.
The valuable data we collect includes biological records, water quality data, and habitat information. Only by better understanding the river, its condition and the pressures it faces can we effectively take action ourselves and engage with industry, business and regulators to influence their actions.
While we occasionally receive funding to commission surveys, a significant portion of this work is made possible by our dedicated citizen science volunteers. This has the added benefits of generating advocacy for the Trust and its causes, connecting people with nature, and building green skills in local communities.
